Let's address the elephant in the operatory: most dental practices are run like small businesses from 1987.
The dentist does everything. The office manager does everything else. Everyone is wearing seventeen hats, nobody knows which hat they are supposed to be wearing at any given moment, and the idea of having a "Chief [insert your current issue here] Officer" sounds about as realistic as having a company jet.
But here is the thing: your practice is a business. And if it is generating seven figures in revenue, it deserves to be run like one.
That is why I have partnered with Charlie Beaulieu of Tidal Accounting and Jess Bereti of Modern HR Solutions to launch The Dental C-Suite Podcast, where we talk about building the executive infrastructure your practice needs to thrive.
What even is a C-suite, and why should you care?
The C-suite is corporate speak for your executive team: Chief Executive Officer, Chief Financial Officer, Chief Marketing Officer, Chief Human Resources Officer.
In a Fortune 500 company, these are different people with corner offices. In your dental practice, these are roles, not necessarily people. Understanding these roles, even if you are the one wearing all the hats, changes everything.
Here is why this matters
When you are in "dentist mode," you are thinking about treatment plans, clinical outcomes and whether that crown prep is going to need a redo.
When you are in "CEO mode," you are thinking about practice vision, growth strategy and whether opening a second location makes sense.
When you are in "CFO mode," you are analyzing your overhead percentage, your profit margins per procedure and why your hygiene department's production dropped last quarter.
Same person. Different thinking. Totally different decisions.
Most practice owners toggle between these modes randomly throughout the day, making whatever decision feels most urgent in the moment. The result is chaos disguised as productivity.

Who this podcast is for
You should listen if:
- You are a practice owner who feels like you are working in the business instead of on it
- You have a successful practice but know it could run better, if you just had time to figure out how
- You are tired of making decisions on gut feeling when you would rather have data
- You want to build something bigger than a job with a drill
- You have ever thought, "there has to be a better way to do this"
You can skip this podcast if:
- You are happy being a solo practitioner who just wants to do dentistry (genuinely, no judgment)
- You think "business stuff" is boring and beneath you
- You believe patients will just show up because you are good at dentistry
- You are already crushing it with a fully systematized practice and executive team (in which case, want to be a guest?)
A promise and a warning
My promise: this podcast will not be full of dental industry jargon, corporate buzzword bingo or advice so generic it could apply to a bakery as easily as a dental practice. We will talk about real challenges and specific strategies you can implement next week.
The warning: once you start thinking about your practice through the lens of different executive roles, you cannot unsee it. You will notice inefficiencies everywhere. You will realize your "marketing strategy" is actually just hoping Google reviews do the heavy lifting. You will understand why your profit margins are thinner than they should be.
That awareness is uncomfortable. It is also the first step to building something remarkable.
Let's build better practices together
A successful practice is built around people, profit and performance. The three pillars are your HR, your bookkeeping and accounting, and your marketing. That is why the three of us, Jess, Charlie and I, have come together to create this resource for dentists.
Clinical excellence should win. But clinical excellence plus business sophistication is unstoppable.
